Halloween Safety Tips for French Bulldogs

Halloween can be a fun and festive night — but our beloved Frenchies need a little extra care!
With all the excitement, costumes, and visitors, the night can bring unexpected stress and potential hazards for some. Here are a few important precautions to keep your French Bulldog safe and comfortable:
Limit Doorbell Stress
Frequent knocks and doorbell rings can be overwhelming. Consider using a baby gate or keeping your Frenchie in a quiet room with calming music or a favorite toy when trick-or-treaters arrive.
No Candy Zone
Chocolate, artificial sweeteners (especially xylitol), and candy wrappers are dangerous for dogs. Keep all candy well out of reach and remind kids not to share treats — no matter how cute those puppy eyes are!
Prevent Escapes
With the door opening and closing often, it only takes a second for a curious Frenchie to slip out. Use leashes, gates, or keep them secured in a separate area during peak trick-or-treat hours.
Costume Comfort First
If you dress up your Frenchie, ensure the costume fits well, doesn’t restrict breathing or movement, and is free from small parts they could chew off. Safety and comfort over style!
Stay Visible
If your Frenchie joins you outside, use reflective gear or an LED collar so they’re easy to spot in the dark.
